Get to know our favourite ebike rack, the E-Rack 2

January 11 2024

As ebike riders ourselves, the E-Rack 2 is our go-to rack for weekly riding. Here's a closer look at the features that make it a favourite among our team.

"an indispensable companion for any biking adventure."

Generous Spacing Between Bikes

One of the standout features is the generous 250 mm spacing between bikes. This design choice isn't just about aesthetics; it's about practicality. It ensures that two ebikes, each weighing up to 30 Kg, can be transported without risk of damage from bike-to-bike contact, preserving both frame integrity and paint finish. Additionally, the inclusion of rubber sleeves on ratchet straps is a thoughtful detail aimed at protecting the bike's rims and frames from potential damage.

Easy to install with great accessibility and storage

The tilt function of the E-Rack 2 is a game-changer for accessibility. It allows users to access their vehicle's boot without needing to remove the bikes or the rack, just flick the tilt lever and lower the bikes down. Since the rack pivots in the middle, it is easy to fold the bikes back up once you're ready to hit the trails.

When not in use, the rack can be folded up and packed away. Its small footprint makes it easy to store in the garage and easy to carry. If hefty weight is an issue, you can also use a ramp (sold separately) to roll the bike onto the rack.

Safety Features

Safety on the road is paramount, which is why the E-Rack 2 is equipped with 4 function lights. It is also a legal requirement in New Zealand and Australia to have positioning lights and to display a supplementary number plate if the rack and/or bikes obscure the vehicle.

Rock solid fit on 50 mm tow balls

The Ezigrip E-Rack 2 bike rack is made precisely to fit Standard 50mm tow balls. This ensures that the rack when mounted to the ball is rock solid and won't twist or turn. The rack cannot be used on trailers, caravans, or motorhomes. It is fine to use on campervans.

Security Measures

In an era where bike security is more important than ever, the lockable features of the E-Rack 2 stand out. Bikes can be locked to the rack, which in turn can be locked to the towball, providing a robust theft deterrent.

Ebike Compatibility & Versatility

The E-Rack 2's design accommodates a wide range of ebike sizes and types. It fits electric and non electric bikes with wheel sizes up to 2.8 inches and wheelbases up to 1400mm, ensuring that most bikes can be transported safely and efficiently. This includes full suspension emtbs and electric commuter step-through bikes.
